By virtue of Section 14 of the Singapore Academy of Law ("SAL") Act, the following persons shall become an Ordinary Member of SAL the Academy:
Every person who is:
- admitted as an advocate and solicitor, whether or not he has in force a practising certificate issued under Section 25 of the Legal Profession Act; or
- a Judicial Service Officer, Legal Service Officer or PD Officer; or
- being a foreign lawyer -
- is registered under section 36B or 36D of the Legal Profession Act; or
- is granted approval under section 176(1) of the Legal Profession Act.
Your membership will commence with immediate effect upon your admission to the Bar, appointment as a Legal Service Officer, registration as Foreign Lawyer under section 36B or 36D of the Legal Profession Act; or when you have been granted approval under section 176(1) of the Legal Profession Act.
