Frequently Asked Questions

How can I help you?

LIFTED help lawyers by providing a structured training framework aligned with industry competencies. It offers accredited courses, a training roadmap, and skills gap analysis, enabling lawyers to upskill effectively. By mapping training to job roles and proficiency levels, LIFTED supports career development, ensuring legal professionals stay competitive and future-ready.

While the Skills Framework for Legal Services is recognised as a national framework, and LIFTED is developed for lawyers in Singapore, it can also serve as a reference for international legal professionals.

The framework for inhouse counsel is targeted to be published by the second half of 2025, while the allied legal professionals framework will be progressively rolled out from 2026 onwards.

The competencies are essentially the same in substance, however the competency names in LIFTED are adjusted slightly so that they are suited the legal context. The names for competencies used in the SSG website are to distinguish them from similar competencies used in other industries, or to align them with competencies which are the same as those used in other industries. The competency statements in LIFTED also include some examples (which are omitted by SSG) to help training providers understand what the statements mean.

Please refer to the LIFTED Accreditation Process here.
For the submission of a course for accreditation, the training provider will reference the course to the Skills Framework for Legal Services and submit for accreditation through CALAS together with the CPD accreditation. SAL will evaluate the submission and confirm the accreditation within 1 working week of submission.

LIFTED accreditation is purely an indication of whether the courses are aligned to the framework. You are advised to review the course outlines and publicity materials to assess if the course relevant and suited to your CPD needs.

Accredited courses gain industry recognition, increased credibility, and greater visibility among legal professionals seeking structured training aligned with competency standards. The accredited courses will also be placed on the training roadmap and referenced in SAL’s career navigation initiatives, for example, they may be recommended to legal professionals seeking to equip themselves with the skills and knowledge for their target job roles.

Yes, accredited courses can use LIFTED branding, but providers must follow the guidelines on the use of the LIFTED accreditation logo to maintain consistency and credibility.

LIFTED Accreditation is granted for single run of a course. You will need to submit a fresh application for each repeat run, with updated details where applicable.

The funding application process for WSQ courses is a separate independent process from LIFTED Accreditation, as SSG has other requirements for funding approval beyond alignment to the Skills Framework for Legal Services (see here).
