Tech Tip 4: You Are More Than Human: The AI Lawyer – Part 2 of 2
The last Tech Tip described how we are at an "inflexion point." in our legal industry. As a junior lawyer, you have both the privilege to learn the classic ways of lawyering by apprenticeship from your seniors, but also the opportunity to craft your own technology-infused workflow for your future.
However, is there a contradiction at the heart of this “inflexion point”? If the skills and hallmarks of effective disputes lawyering are taught you in the classic and analog ways, how are you to even recognize what makes for a good technology-infused workflow?
Our short answer is that you must both learn more and learn less at the same time. All the more, learn from and observe keenly from your seniors the craft of lawyering, in order to discern better the kernel of wisdom and skill. Then, learn less by keeping an open mind and jettisoning the shell which does not work for you. In this way, you can find and wrap around this kernel a technology-infused workflow that suits you better as a digital native.
To illustrate this process, we will explore with you the concept of the Authentically Integrated Lawyer through the following 8 Augmentations in the upcoming series of Tech Tips:
- Your hands can mould documents like clay.
- You work in parallel universes.
- You can fish for documents.
- Your brain is more than the gray matter in the head.
- You talk to yourself.
- You talk in Quick Parts.
- You write in Style.
- You stack software.
As you see, these augmentations are provocatively crafted – because true technological advancement is not merely about using new tools, but more fundamentally about transforming workflow for the better. Workflow will be the focus on this series of Tech Tips.
