Cases of A Lifetime: The Anthony Ler Trial

In 2001, Singapore was rocked by news of the murder of Ms Annie Leong. Her killer? A 15-year-old boy, instigated to kill Annie by Anthony Ler, her own husband. Then-JC Tay Yong Kwang eventually sentenced the boy, known to the country as “Z”, to indefinite detention, with the following words: “Murder Anthony wrote, murder Z wrought.”

Now, Mr Peter Ong (Peter Ong Law Corporation), the lawyer who secured Z’s release after 17 years in jail, tells us how he did it.
