Two Senior Counsel appointed in 2025

The Honourable the Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon announced the appointment of two new Senior Counsel at the Opening of Legal Year today. They are:
  • Ms Hing Shan Shan Blossom (郉舢鐥)
  • Mr Christopher Ong Siu Jin (王守仁)

Details of new appointees are appended in Annex A.

 Appointment as Senior Counsel is an accolade given to those who possess outstanding ability as advocates, extensive knowledge of the law and the highest professional standing. Additionally, they must have made significant contribution to the development of the law, the legal community and society. Applications for Senior Counsel opened in August 2024 and were reviewed by a Senior Counsel Selection Committee comprising:

  • The Honourable the Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon
  •  The Honourable Attorney-General Lucien Wong, SC
  •  The Honourable Justice Tay Yong Kwang, JCA
  • The Honourable Justice Steven Chong, JCAThe Honourable Justice Belinda Ang, JCA

 The two newly appointed Senior Counsel bring the total number recognised with the honour to 100[1], out of 6,348 legal practitioners[2].

 The Senior Counsel appointment scheme has been administered by the Singapore Academy of Law since 1997. This year marks the 28th year since the title of Senior Counsel has been bestowed to recognise Singapore’s top lawyers. A background of the scheme is at Annex B.
