HOW THE CJ'S CUP TRANSFORMS LIVES
Every year, hundreds of SAL members lace up their kicks for a morning of futsal at The CJ's Cup. The annual tournament has become a highlight of the legal calendar, both for the break from work it offers, as well as the chance to support the community.
From its inception in 2015, the tournament has raised funds exclusively for the Yellow Ribbon Fund - SAL STAR (Skills Training Assistance to Restart) Bursary. Firms contribute to the Fund when they register a team. Thousands of SAL members also chip in with individual donations, with a record sum of more than $165,000 last year.
Starting this year, SAL will also count the Singapore After-Care Association's Volunteer After-Care Programme as a beneficiary. This effort supports an important element of the after-care landscape, encouraging community involvement in helping desistors return to society as accepted members.
Together, these efforts do make a difference in the lives of incarcerated people and their loved ones, as Mr Mason Lim, a third-year NUS student, shares:
We invite you to join us at the CJ's Cup 2024, held from 9.30am to 2pm on 27 April at Kick Off! (60 Hougang St 21, Singapore 538738).
Registration for teams is still open; limited slots are also available for a free hourlong football clinic for kids of SAL members. Write to [email protected] to indicate your interest in both.
You can also donate as an individual/organisation to support both causes:
