Future of the Legal Profession - Leadership & Business Skills

From Technical Excellence to Leadership and Business Skills as Core Professional Capabilities

“Train people well enough so they can leave. Treat them well enough so they don’t want to.” ~ Richard Branson

Supporting the SAL Training Pledge launched at the JLP Opening Conference in 21 May 2025, the Future of Legal Talent Series (FLT) is an exclusive platform that brings together legal industry leaders and learning & development professionals.

Through this quarterly series of complimentary, invite-only lunchtime seminars, participants engage in discussions on key issues in legal talent management. SAL aims to build a network of forward-thinking leaders and professionals committed to shaping the future and sustainability of legal talent.

These by‑invitation‑only sessions are limited in capacity and subject to confirmation. We look forward to convening the right voices for a meaningful exchange.

Learning about leadership is one thing. Applying it within your team, your firm, and your specific context is another.

The SAL Executive Coaching Programme bridges this gap. By providing participants who have attended selected SAL leadership programmes with ongoing post-learning support through dedicated certified executive coaches, enabling deeper application of their learning.

Through three focused one‑hour sessions over an eight‑week period, our panel of trained executive coaches will help participants elevate their programme learnings and enhance their leadership capabilities. The coaching process supports more intentional decision-making, strenghthens leadership habits, and drives meaningful workplace change.

Developed in collaboration with Geraldine Gauthier, Master Certified Coach (International Coaching Federation), this coaching experience is designed not to add to your to‑do list — but to sharpen how you lead through it. Because the best leadership development doesn’t end in the classroom.
