Five-day virtual event will be complimentary, with a new format for networking sessions and panel discussions.

SINGAPORE, 03 AUGUST 2020 – More than 5,000 members of the world’s legal and technology communities are expected to gather online at TechLaw.Fest 2020.  The virtual event will have more than 100 speakers from 20 countries who will offer thought-provoking and practical insights into legal innovation, technology law, harnessing technology to improve access to justice and the future of automated legal operations.

The third edition of TechLaw.Fest will be the largest ever, both in terms of reach and content. Running from 28 September to 2 October 2020, it will be free for all attendees, said organisers Singapore Academy of Law (“SAL”), Singapore’s Ministry of Law and MP Singapore.

Ms Serene Wee, Chief Executive of SAL welcomed this, noting that the event will leverage technology to widen its reach. “The pandemic has hammered home the centrality of technology in legal work. The themes to be discussed at TechLaw.Fest 2020 are timely and global. Be it harnessing technology to improve access to justice or the regulation of technology, these issues affect multiple jurisdictions. TechLaw.Fest itself promises a wholly virtual experience, which will allow more to benefit from its nuanced and holistic discussions on issues affecting law and technology.”

DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY

·         SMART SCHEDULING: Participants will find that there’s something for them no matter where they’re joining from. That’s because organisers have opted for a 10am-to-8pm conference clock instead of the usual 9am-to-5pm format. This allows for more content each day and makes it convenient for those living outside Asia to join the conference. Conference sessions will also be recorded and made available on-demand for even greater access.

·         NEW NETWORKING: Networking sessions are a mainstay at TechLaw.Fest, as they facilitate the all-important forming of new contacts across sectors, jurisdictions and demographics. Their virtual counterparts will do the same, albeit with a new process. Attendees will have to make an appointment with their chosen contact and include a short note on what they’d like to speak to them about. Formalising the process could allow more attendees to grow their networks.

·         CYBER EXHIBITION: Participants can connect with more people through the virtual platform, no matter where they are and requiring only a fraction of the resources they’d typically use for a physical exhibit.

·         KNOWLEDGE CAFÉ: Small group discussions on critical industry topics by key speakers and industry leaders.
