• Multi-year partnership will establish LegalWeek Asia conference, strengthening Singapore’s status as a leading hub for major business and convention events.

Singapore, 10 September 2026 – The Singapore Academy of Law (“SAL”) and Law.com, have signed a three-year partnership agreement to launch LegalWeek Asia from September 2027.  Building on the established platform of SAL’s TechLaw.Fest, LegalWeek Asia will be a major international legal technology conference for the region.

Across 11 editions, TechLaw.Fest has welcomed more than 26,000 participants and established itself as a recognised event on the international legal technology conference calendar. The partnership with Law.com marks the next stage of its development, expanding its international reach and creating a larger platform for learning, dealmaking, thought leadership and the showcasing of innovation.

LegalWeek Asia will draw on the experience of LegalWeek New York, Law.com’s long-established legal technology conference. It will feature a large-scale trade exhibition, a main conference stage, dedicated educational tracks and an awards gala dinner. TechLaw.Fest will feature content as part of the main-stage programme within LegalWeek Asia, which will also include a full  slate of educational sessions for legal professionals from law firms, corporate legal departments, and government.

Law.com will commit substantial investment to establish LegalWeek Asia, building its international audience, exhibition footprint and exhibitor base. This is in line with Singapore’s ambitions to strengthen its position as a global legaltech and MICE hub. The inaugural event is expected to bring together about 4,000 local and overseas attendees and around 90 international sponsors.

The partnership also reinforces Singapore’ standing as a major Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (“MICE”) destination. Singapore has been named Asia-Pacific’s Top Meeting City by the International Congress and Convention Association for 23 consecutive years, and was ranked Cvent’s Top Meeting Destination in Asia-Pacific for 2026. Business events tourism receipts reached S$2.3 billion in 2025, a 35 per cent increase from the preceding year, according to the Singapore Tourism Board.

AI-LawNet Enhancements for Faster, More Connected Legal Research

At TechLaw.Fest 2026, SAL unveiled new AI-powered tools and other LawNet enhancements, providing lawyers with a more connected and seamless way for legal research.

These developments are designed to make legal research more intuitive and efficient, while ensuring access to trusted and authoritative sources. LawNet serves the majority of practising lawyers in Singapore, with more than 75 per cent using it as their primary legal research resource. The latest developments will further support how the profession accesses and uses Singapore legal content.

Key developments include:

• Expanded Legislation Coverage

Introduced last year with the Companies Act, LawNet’s enhanced Legislation module has since been expanded to cover 10 pieces of legislation across key areas including civil procedure, criminal law and family law, bringing this capability to a wider range of practice areas. With this module, LawNet users can view a list of cases tagged to specific statutory provision alongside the statutory text, enabling them to locate cases more quickly. The pieces of legislation were selected based on the volume of related cases in LawNet’s tagging system. The full list of legislation covered is set out in Annex A.

• AI-Generated Annotated Statutes

Beginning with the Companies Act, this feature enables LawNet users to view extracted legal principles relevant to a particular statutory provision, helping them identify the judgments most relevant to their research. SAL has also filed a provisional patent application for the internally developed methodology that generates these AI annotations, which is designed to be scalable to other Acts of Parliament and subsidiary legislation over time.

• Academy Library 2.0.

It offers LawNet users digital access to Academy Publishing titles – 79 titles to date, within the LawNet research environment in an interactive format. Users can search within individual titles, navigate through chapters and view cited references side by side. They can also select and download the pages they need, with downloaded PDFs retaining print-edition pagination for accurate citation and for easier preparation of bundles of authorities and written submissions.

Academy Publishing titles will also be included alongside case law and legislation in both LawNet’s Classic Search and AI-powered Q&A search. This will allow users to search across these sources and move seamlessly from a relevant discussion in a textbook to the relevant case or statutory provision, without interrupting their research flow.

• Sentencing Information and Research Repository

Launching later this year, the first phase of the revamped Sentencing Information and Research Repository (the “SIR”) will provide a more efficient and integrated approach for lawyers to conduct sentencing research. LawNet users will be able to search by legislation and statutory provision, and view sentencing charts, relevant cases, charge listings and appeal records in a single, integrated view, reducing the time needed to piece together information from separate sources.

• LawNet Partner Application Programming Interface

SAL is piloting LawNet’s Partner Application Programming Interface, or API, to make trusted LawNet judgment content more accessible through the legal technology tools that lawyers use in their daily practice.

The API will enable selected legal technology platforms to integrate LawNet judgment content, providing users with active LawNet subscriptions with new or enhanced tools to support their legal research needs. SAL looks forward to growing this partner ecosystem over time.

Partnership with LegalOn Technologies

Beyond LawNet, SAL is also working to make trusted Singapore legal content more accessible through the platforms that legal professionals use.

SAL is partnering with LegalOn Technologies, Inc. (“LegalOn”) to integrate SAL’s Corporate References, comprising the SAL Clause Bank, Commercial Precedents, Guides and Toolkits, into LegalOn’s AI-powered legal platform.

The integration will give LegalOn subscribers, including corporate lawyers and in-house counsel, access to trusted, Singapore-focused legal content within their existing workflows. They will be able to search and retrieve SAL’s content, and generate AI-powered responses that draw on it, with SAL clearly attributed as the source.

Last year’s partnerships with international content providers have made Singapore legal materials easier to discover and use across jurisdictions. Our new partnership with LegalOn extends this approach into the corporate legal workflow, giving corporate lawyers and in-house counsel another way to access SAL’s Corporate References within their existing tools, with SAL clearly identified as the source. It also advances our wider mission to make Singapore law more accessible globally.”
