The components of the Skills Framework for Legal Services are
The Skills Framework for Legal Services was developed in close consultation with Skillsfuture Singapore, Law Society of Singapore, Singapore Corporate Counsel Association, Singapore Institute of Legal Education, Ministry of Law, and the Reform of Legal Education Standing Committee.
CAREER MAP
The LIFTED Career Map is organised into two main industry functions: Advisory & Advocacy and Legal Operations & Support:
(i) The Advisory & Advocacy function categorises job roles into two areas—one for practitioners in law firms and another for in-house counsel.
(ii) The Legal Operations & Support function describes Allied Legal Professionals job roles and is divided into three areas: two primarily within law firms and one within legal departments. The job roles for allied legal professionals is still being developed and validated with industry.
For each job role, a Skills Map will be developed.

SKILLS MAPS
A Skills Map introduces the job role, sets out the Critical Work Functions (CWF) of the role and the key tasks which are actual tasks under each CWF. The required Technical Skills and Competencies (TSC) and Critical Core Skills (CCS) to support the CWFs are identified and proficiency levels are specified to clarify expectations for each skill.
For example, as an Associate (Corporate), you will require Intermediate Contract Drafting TSC.

Skills maps for in-house counsel will be available in the second half of 2025.
Skills maps for allied legal professionals are targeted to be available in 2026-2027.
COMPETENCIES
A competency statement describes in detail the abilities and knowledge for a particular competency at three proficiency levels: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. Abilities statements describe the specific actions or skills expected to be demonstrated at a certain proficiency level, while knowledge statements describe the supporting knowledge needed to perform those skills. and supporting knowledge, aiding training providers in course development.
The following lists the competencies that have been identified for the six job roles in law firm practice. The list will be updated when the in-house counsel and allied legal professionals job roles are added.
