About LIFTED
The Legal Industry Framework for Training and Education (LIFTED) is a comprehensive competency framework designed to support the professional growth of legal professionals throughout their careers in Singapore.
A core initiative by the Reform of Legal Education Committee, LIFTED is developed by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) in close collaboration with legal professionals at all levels and key industry stakeholders, including the Law Society and the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association.
LIFTED has three core components:
Skills Framework for Legal Services
- Career Map: A clear overview of the various key professions within the legal industry.
- Skills Maps: Detailed outlines of critical work functions and tasks associated with different legal roles.
- Competency Statements: Descriptions of the knowledge and abilities required at various proficiency levels—basic, intermediate, and advanced—for each skill.
Knowledge Guides
Knowledge Guides on specialist practice areas: which provide insights into specialised domain knowledge for various legal practice areas and are designed to support training providers in offering targeted, knowledge-focused programs for professionals pursuing expertise in specific legal fields.
Training Roadmap
Training Roadmap for legal professionals.
In addition to its focus on disputes and corporate lawyers, LIFTED will be extended to cover in-house counsel and allied legal professionals in the coming years, creating a comprehensive framework that spans the entire legal sector.
